Beyond the Wish

The wish is only the beginning.

While children are waiting to receive their wish or long after, Wishing Star Foundation’s mission is to offer enduring support through community gathering opportunities as well as financial assistance for families that are required to travel away from home to receive treatment for their wish child.

We Offer Enduring Support Through:

The Beyond the Wish Program provides the opportunity for any of our wish kids and their families to create a community of support. Many times the situations that wish families are facing are incredibly isolating and by providing the opportunity to gather once a month with other families experiencing the same things, families are able to find support, resources and hope. 

Medical Travel Support Grants are also offered through Beyond the Wish. Many times our wish kids have to travel away from home to receive treatment. The expenses of food, gas, transportation and lodging are not always covered by insurance. Through our Grant Program, families are given the opportunity to apply for support to help with the additional costs of traveling for medical treatment.

The Christmas Giving Program is an opportunity for families to be supported during the holiday season. Christmas can be a very difficult time for some Wishing Star families. Whether they are struggling financially, don’t have time to shop because their child’s in the hospital receiving care or it’s the first Christmas since their child passed, Wishing Star wants to support them.

How Donations Meet Tangible Needs

Alleviate Financial Stress

Many families must travel away from home to receive treatment for their wish child. Food, airfare, gas and lodging are not always covered by insurance, so these required medical trips can cause financial stress for our Wishing Star families. Our Beyond the Wish Medical Travel Support Grants can help alleviate some of that stress so families can focus on the care of their Wish Child.

Combat Isolation

Donations also provide Wishing Star the opportunity to host community gathering events for Wish Kids and their families. Many times families with a child who is terminal or battling a life-threatening illness can feel isolated. Wishing Star strives to bring families together to build a community of support while providing wish children and their siblings the opportunity to experience joyful and fun activities in a safe, welcoming environment.
