When anyone makes the decision to give to the Wishing Star Foundation, they are allowing the Wishing Star Foundation to offer more children and their families life-long support. This support is offered through our 3 programs: Wish Granting, Beyond the Wish and After the Wish.

Circle of Friends

Monthly recurring donations of any amount have the transformative power to sustain our programming outside of annual fundraising events.

One Time Donations

Just one donation helps provide hope and enduring support to local families of terminal or life-threatened children.

Other Ways to Give

If you are planning your estate, please consider leaving at least 5% to the Wishing Star Endowment Fund at Innovia Foundation.

The fund will be used to support the general operations of Wishing Star Foundation in perpetuity. By committing to leave at least 5% of our wealth to local organizations like Wishing Star Foundation, we can make sure our personal investment continues to grow after we are gone. Nearly everyone in our region has enough to share, especially when we look beyond cash on hand. The potential to benefit communities through planned end-of-life gifts from our estates is one of the best ways to ensure that the charitable organizations and communities we care about most continue for a long time to come. Whether it is through your will or a simple beneficiary designation, planning now to support the Wishing Star Endowment Fund can create your charitable legacy with a transformational and lasting impact.

If you’re 70½ or older, you can contribute to Wishing Star Foundation directly from your IRA and potentially receive tax benefits.

You can recommend a grant from your donor-advised fund (DAF) by calling your fund manager, or by signing in to your granting institution and selecting Wishing Star Foundation.

Step 1: 

Choose what type of stock and how many shares you want to donate

You will need to know the name of the stock and its ticker symbol.

Contact Wishing Star Foundation to receive our DTC # and Account Wiring Instructions

Contact your financial institution to request the transfer

Contact us to inform us of your gift

Please contact us in advance at 509-744-3411 or info@wishingstar.org to inform us that you are gifting stock to Wishing Star Foundation in order to receive your tax receipt.  

Step 5

Look for a tax receipt and acknowledgment letter for Wishing Star Foundation 

You will receive an acknowledgment following your donation to confirm your gift was processed.

To claim the tax benefits of donating stock to Wishing Star Foundation, report the stock donation when you file your tax return.

Each year, the Wishing Star Foundation commits to granting at least 20 wishes for children in our local communities.

What impact does my money have?

  • $10 allows us to deliver coffee to a parent whose child is in the hospital receiving treatment

  • $25 provides lunch for a Wish Child while they are on their wish trip 

  • $50 provides a gas gift card for a family traveling to receive treatment for their child

  • $100 provides supplies for a Beyond the Wish Community Event 

  • $150 provides one night of lodging for a wish trip or for a family traveling to receive treatment for their child 

  • $200 provides dinner for a family of 5 on a wish trip

  • $300 provides support for two Wish Kids in the Christmas Giving Program

  • $500 provides two round trip airline tickets for a wish trip
